Sigh of relief

Just updated from WordPress 2.9.2 to 3.0.  Scary, I hate messing with stuff, but it was as easy as any wordpress install.  Dead simple easy.  If you have a website, and it’s not built on WordPress, consider migrating it.  Best CMS ever.

No contact

Sorry for any inconvenience, but for at least a day or so, my contact form is going to be gone. Something broke overnight and I woke up to over 20 spam messages, so I’ve got to fix it, but have no time. If you want to get in touch, leave a comment and I’ll get […]

Long Silence

I wish I could say that I have been absent and quiet for nearly three weeks because I have been somewhere quiet and secluded, where I have enjoyed the company of my lovely wife and son and beers.  Sadly, this is not the case.  I have been running flat-out with little time to enjoy beer, […]

Some Technical Notes

I don’t know if any of you readers manage any websites, and if so, if you use Google Analytics, but let me tell you:  It’s scary.  Between the info I get from GA and the reports WordPress generates, if you’ve posted a comment on this site, I think I can sell your house and we’ve […]

St. Patrick’s Day Report

Okay, first off, I must warn you:  I think you might feel a little let down. So what does Chris Schryer, torontobeerblog.com founder, offical non-irish irishman, and general man-about-town do for St Pat’s?  He makes a great dinner, then tells his wife to go out and enjoy herself with friends.  Stays in.  Probably writes a […]

Luck of the Irish to you!

So here’s the thing:  I’ve been to Ireland.  A bunch of times.  I’ve even visited St Patrick (Padraig)’s grave (it’s in a little town called Downpatrick, where a friend of mine owns a used book shop).  I’ve drank Guinness from the brewery, sat and listened to a traditional session in a pub called Oliver St […]

All quiet on the western front

So I realized that all I’ve been posting of late has been beer reviews. I guess that’s better then nothing but still, I feel bad for the lack of exciting fresh content. The good news is that this Friday I’ll be headed to Peterborough which means FINALLY getting to the publican house. Also I bought […]

Catching Up

Hey there, Okay, so first off, I’m still alive after the 67 experience.  Tough, you know?  I just reviewed the empties that I really need to return, and it occurs to me that I need to be more mentally aware of which LCBOs I go to; I’ve been drinking a lot of Creemore.  This isn’t […]

Thanks, Louis

Today, January 28, in 1873, Louis Pasteur patented a lesser known type of pasturization (milk, being the big one). Being a chap not unaccustomed to the bottom of a pint glass, he knew the possibilities his heat-process could offer the brewing world. You see, it was still common practice back then to chill the wort […]
