Somersby Cider at the LCBO

Well, this is cider week, and so news should be cider-related, right?  I’ll cut right to the chase: Somersby Cider, the highly popular draught cider introduced in Toronto last year by Carlsberg, is now available in the LCBO.  The product code is #279307 and there is plenty of product around.  You can check the stock counts at Thanks to Sarah for commenting on my post about the Somersby Launch last year, with this info.

Aside from the news/note-worthiness of this, “somersby cider lcbo” searches from Google et al drives more traffic to my blog than anything else.  And “Somersby Cider” is number 3. So apparently a lot of you want to buy cider.  And now you can.  I might also encourage you to check out my posts from’s first annual Cider Week. You can find them all here:

I asked for it today and they didn’t know anything about it. I live in Kitchener.

Yeah I know, I live in Kitchener too and the only place that I know that serves it is the Whale and Ale pub. I think the nearest LCBO with it is in London….

It’s definitely worth checking before you go to buy some, using the product code I mentioned. You can generate lists of availability based on city, or by your postal code, or by where you physically are if you’re checking using the app on an iPhone.

I hate it when you really enjoy something & it is difficult to find

I know I saw it at 3 LCBOs in Scarborough today. But yeah, it’s not everywhere. The official launch is May 17th, but it’s trickling out to stores as we speak. Keep checking!

Beertown in Cambridge serves Somersby cider and I was just in Toronto this past weekend and I went to a pub called “the office pub” and they sell pitchers of it for only $20!… hope this helps 🙂

Checked website and headed to the closest store that have this cider. An employee at lcbo didn’t know the Somersby cider, but directed me to the shelf with ciders where I was able to locate Somersby. The cider is much sweeter than Strongbow Cider, which was a surprise in a good way. Alcohol level as expected.

    Conclusion: Great cider!

Tried the Sommersby Cider last year and thought it was amazing, for the first week or two and then seemed to tire of the sickly sweet taste (like drinking sugar water). Not sure whether the notation on the can reading “made with apple flavouring” means just that or is it made from actual apples. My favourite cider ever was Bulmers but the LCBO no longer stock it so I switched to Magners apple cider and Magners pear cider they are just perfect for me, almost as good as Bulmers. Enjoy
