Ontario Brewing Awards
Oh my, spring is, well, springing. One day the future king is getting married, the next we're electing government, the next I'm pretending to be a brewer. Dear me. I must confess to negligence and say I nearly let a great event coming up slip by un-announced. This Tuesday (May 10th), Libation Nation will be hosting the Ontario Brewing Awards at the Dominion on Queen, in partnership with Toronto's Festival of Beer and Bet.365.net.
A variety of Ontario brewers entered beer's into this year's contest, and they were judged mid-April. Tuesday the winners will be announced, and you're invited.
Brewers participating this year include: First timers Labatt Breweries, Molson Breweries and Niagara College’s new brewing course; returning competitors Black Oak Brewing, Cameron’s Brewing Company, Cool Beer Brewing, Creemore Springs, Flying Monkey’s Craft Brewery, Grand River Brewery, Great Lakes Brewery, Heritage Brewing, King Brewery, Lakes of Muskoka Cottage Brewery, Mill Street Brewery, Old Credit Brewery, Wellington County Brewing and Steam Whistle Brewing.
The event is at The Dominion on Queen, 500 Queen St E, from 5pm-8pm. Tickets are available online; for $30 you not only get admission to the Ontario Brewing Awards, including samples of the beers entered, but also a pass to Toronto's Festival of Beer on Sunday. But just to really spice things up a bit, I've got four passes to give away. As I think beer is a sociable thing, I'm going to give them away as pairs, so you can bring a friend. So then, how to win them? Actually quite simple. Look at that list of participants, and name a beer I've reviewed on this blog by one of them. The search box on the right will likely help here......
Email me via my Contact Form; first two correct responses gets a pair of passes each.
Congratulations to Peter and Mark, who both won a pair of passes. Incidentally, both picking beers by Black Oak (obviously men of great taste).
If you don't win, you can buy your passes online here. Hurry, there is a limited number, and they go quick.

This Contest is totally open to people over the age of 19 as of April 10th 2011. There is no real format, rules or structure aside from what I mentioned above. Clearly there is no purchase necessary. I would say there is reading necessary, but to be fair, you could win with a well-informed guess. Your call.
