Look out Sapporo and InBev! Here comes….. Duvel?

I just read on Stephen Beaumont’s blog, that De Koninck has been sold, which is good news indeed.  The company was feeling the heat of the economy, and was in need of some help.  And so they have sold their assets to another brewing company, namely, Duvel Moortgat. This is a great victory in the world of ever decreasing brewing companies.  Duvel has been a good steward of their recent purchases (including Brasserie d’Achouffe and the northern Liefmans), and having a brewery not getting bought by InBev or Sapporo is great.  Now if we can just get Duvel to buy Tusker and the Guinness holdings from Diageo, we’ll be all set.

By the way, if this came as news to you, you obviously don’t follow Stephen’s blog, “Blogging at World of Beer“.  You should.
