A Brief Update

Hello everybody.  Between Cask Days and Hurricane Apocalyptico, I do hope everybody is okay.  I just wanted to take a moment to address a few house-keeping things:

1. Hey, thanks for reading.  Of late, I’ve been amazed by the engagement of people here.  I’m getting lots of positive feedback, and it really means a lot to me. I do enjoy just the act of writing here, but it is extra nice knowing there are people enjoying reading it all.

2. How about Cask Days?  What an amazing event.  A big thanks to the Moranna family, and the huge crew of volunteers who made the event work.  It was just amazing.

3. Watch out for a lot of reviews coming down the pipe.  I’ve got a back-log of beers to review, from stuff now available in the Ontario market, to Oktoberfest beers I never got a chance to review (I had planned a whole week of Oktoberfest-themed stuff, but life just was too busy).  I want to put my back (and mouth) into it, and get through them because:

4. I’m making some changes with how information is posted here.  I’m not a stickler for rules, but I’ve noticed two things about how content is being consumed by you readers (you wacky lot).

  • More people read more frequently if I post regularly, ideally daily Monday-Friday.
  • People seem to like structure.  Themed weeks always prove the most-read (Cider week, funny enough, was my most read week ever; perhaps I should change the name of my blog?)

So, once I’m through the back-log (going to do two reviews later today as a good start), here’s what you can expect:

Wrap-up Monday. The day we look back, at the week that was.  You might get news that I missed, reviews of events from the past week, or reflections of the ending of a season/event time (spring, Oktoberfest, Christmas, etc)

New Brew Tuesday. There’s always new brews, and I’ll be reviewing them on Tuesday.

Wildcard Wednesday. Anything goes.  It’s hump day, anything beer related will help.

Podcast Thursday. The podcast day.  Will include at least one review, interviews, some news, event info, whatever.  Featuring me.  And hopefully guests……

Friday. Such a great day, it doesn’t need a fancy title.  Expect lots of “what to do” information.  Events for the weekend (and week or so to come)

The Rare Old Saturday/Sunday. Posts from the weekend will be few and far between, but will likely be extra beer reviews. I get a lot of beer to review, and I’m not convinced I can get through it all in three days a week.

I’m not going to lie: I’m pretty excited about this.  I’ve been feeling so jazzed about beer writing in the past few weeks, and I’m giddy about this change.  It makes a fella wish he didn’t have so many great beers to review…… Let me know what you think.  Also, I’m totally game to take suggestions for Wednesday in general, and also potential interviews for the podcast.  Do let me know if you have any great ideas!
