Why I love Beau’s – Part 2

Yup, it’s that time again.  I haven’t stepped up on the old Beau’s Soap Box.  So what’s the deal?  Well, for one, a while back Beau’s hosted a great event at Volo, with a variety of their brews on cask, and the whole team was out and cool to hang out and chat.  I tried not to be too school-girl-esque while talking to Steve.  It was (unsurprisingly) a great time.  The Beaver River IPA was stellar (it was the first time I’d had it).

Next, Beau’s made a beer to celebrate the Canadian liberation of Holland in WWII.  Brewed in conjunction with beer royalty, Konings Hoeven, Vrienden (“Friends”) is a wit beer with ingredients from Canada and the Netherlands (Maple Syrup and Juniper Berries respectively).  Serious?  Then they got to serve it at the Dutch Consulate, the Attorney-General’s place and to some really high-level government types.

Lastly, I finally got around to picking up a 4-pack of Lug-Tread in the new format at the LCBO.  I’d seen it and already knew it was the coolest thing at the beer store, but let me just confirm having brought one home and given it a once-over.  It’s the coolest thing at the LCBO.  Toasted Head Chardonnay gives it a run, but still.

Lug-Tread 4-pack

Yeah, that’s right, 4x600ml bottles at a comparable price for a 6x341ml.  Do the math.  And seriously, I might be a lush, but I *never* drink a single 341ml.  Also the open top case uses way less cardboard, which incidentally is made from 100% post-consumer un-bleached recycled material.  The bottles have silk-screen labels and are crown caps (which means way more re-uses then a traditional ISB).  And just in case you forgot from my last Beau’s praise-session, they’re a totally organic brewery.  Damn.  Best looking packing, environmental conscious that David Suzuki would be proud of, and some of the tastiest beers in Ontario.

Buy Beau’s Beers, okay?  Get on it.

A good start will be June 26th (tentative) at Castro’s, for OCB week.  We’re going to hook up a Cask of something tasty, and serve up some BBQ Pork.  Hit up my contact page for more info or to get on our mailing list.
