OCB Week — Tuesday June 19th 2012

Good morning friends! Everybody feeling refreshed after a lovely night’s sleep? I hope so, you’ll need to be for tonight.  It’s the night of the crawl.  If you’re in the GTA, whether you’re in the east or west end, there is a pub crawl for you.  Does that not describe you? Well, let me help out for a moment. As usual, feel free to check out http://www.ontariocraftbrewers.com/craftbeerweek/events2012.php for full event listings for your area, and to plan ahead.

Far East and Wild West.

Okay, you know the thing about GTA dwellers like me?  We’re egocentric. The Rose Line? The Prime Meridian? The International Date Line? They ain’t got nothing on us.  Yonge St baby! Ignore the fact that the vast majority of it lies outside of Toronto, we’re famous (fun trivia for tonight at the bar, what’s the longest street in Toronto.  Hint, it’s not Yonge). So with that in mind, it’s obvious I tend to be fairly GTA-centric. But that is not fair, so with that in mind, let me tell you about some stuff happening tonight, if you’re not one of the blessed a resident of the (416). Basically, if you’re east of Pickering, figure on checking out a Beau’s event tonight.  There are a bunch. With events in Kingston, Cornwall (times two), Gananoque, and Carp, Beau’s has got your back, Jack. West siii-iiide? Grand River is serving a different one-off every day this week at their brewery in Cambridge. Welly is hosting a beer and cheese pairing at the Cornerstone in Guelph, and I’m guessing you might just get to try some of their one-off series. The Lancaster has no less than four breweries showing off at their smoke house tonight in Kitchener. Look for brews from F&M, Beau’s, Muskoka and Flying Monkeys. F&M will also be in Waterloo at Oliver & Bonacini Waterloo sampling their selections of brews, and the public gets to vote on which one will be added to the draught selection. Voting is your responsibility.  Get out and vote.

Don’t skin your knees

Indeed, a pair of pub crawls tonight cover you off, whether you dig Ronce/Queen or The Danforth. If you’re near the park, or will be tonight, meet the crew at The Local on Roncesvalles at 7pm (probably best to be a little early and warm up). Then walk, stagger, whatever, down Ronce and along Queen W, hitting The Dizzy, Cardinal Rule, The Sister, and The Rhino. If fate has you on the good side of the Don (as I like to call it), be at Sarah’s Cafe on the Danforth at 7pm, and follow along to Morgan’s, The Only Café and ending off at Brass Taps. These crawls are epic.  Lots of brewery folks come along, and there is no shortage of swag and good times. Be there.

I said yesterday that I was going to also do and OCB review, but then I didn’t.  SO today I’m going to say that I won’t and then I will.  I was tempted to say I would do two, but that’s just crazy talk! If you’re crawling in the east end tonight, I’ll see you along the way! Take care of each other out there
