Digging out of the news heap

So, every so often, I realize that I’ve totally neglected the blizzard of news releases and facebook events and whatever else people use to try to get the attention of a group of highly inattentive beer bloggers.  So here’s what’s going on:

The Only

The Only CafeIndeed, it’s that time of the quarter, and The Only cafe is doing their summer beer fest this weekend, August 9th and 10th.  You want to be there.  Both nights.  Full details here: http://www.theonlycafe.com/theonly/fest/index.html

Steam Whistle Openers

2013 Steam Whistle OpenerSpeaking of “that time of the…”, Steam Whistle is again giving away a retro bottle opener in both their 12 AND 6 packs.  It’s the ninth year they’ve done it, how is your collection?  I just checked and I seem to be missing one.

Speaking of Steam Whistle

It’s their Roundhouse Craft Beer Festival this weekend! Saturday and Sunday, $10 (in advance, $15 at the gate) gets you your entry/glass which is good for both days, and tokens are $5/5 tokens, and they’ll actually buy-back your left-overs. Get down for some awesome Ontario Craft Beer and great food truck eats.  And the best part?  It’s in support of the Toronto Railway Heritage Museum.  http://www.craftbeerfest.ca/

Big Glasses of Beer

Me, a big beer, and a big hat.

Me, a big beer, and a big hat.

Yup, it’s time to start making your plans for Oktoberfest.  I will likely be at both Toronto Oktoberfest at the Kool Haus (http://www.torontooktoberfest.ca/) and also the most excellent Beau’s Oktoberfest in Vankleek Hill (www.beaus.ca). So start training, that’s a lot of beer to get through!

Bloody Hell

Nothing to do with beer, but Canadian Blood Services is predicting an impending shortage of blood and are looking for donors to step up before labour day.  If you’re eligible, it takes less then 45 minutes and could literally save lives. Check http://www.blood.ca/ for more info.

If You Can See This, You Can Stop Reading Now

Indeed, at some point in the next few days, I’m moving this here bloggy.  Actually, I’m getting pros to do it, but whatever.  It will ideally affect you not at all, but maybe you might click into the site and find this post missing, or something like that.  By next week, everything should be normal.  Oh, and as an aside, I’m moving from Godaddy.com, to HostGator.com.  You see, HostGator gives me more (server space, bandwidth, databases, email accounts etc) for less money, with better support.  And as far as I know, nobody at HostGator has ever needlessly shot and killed an African elephant.  Fuck you, Bob Parsons.
